About ORC International
Supporting the Communities in Which We Work
ORC International is delighted to be supporting two children’s charities – KIDS and Francis House Hospice.
Manchester-based charity – Francis House Children’s Hospice (Rainbow Family Trust)
The word hospice means “a place of rest and refreshment” and Francis House is just such a place providing friendship, support and practical help to the children who are suffering from illnesses for which there is no known cure.
Francis House in Didsbury, Manchester, is a large house with pleasant grounds where families can really relax and “let go”. Their aim is to care for the child in exactly the way their family would care for them at home, and to work alongside the parents offering help and support. Francis House offers:
- Skilled nursing care for children in a homely, happy and secure place
- An essential break for parents and their families
- Additional assistance including home support, bereavement care and support groups for brothers and sisters
- A lifeline by being available 24/7
- A range of therapeutic services within the respite provision at Francis House including:
- Multisensory experience
- Jacuzzi
- Music therapy
- Play therapy
- Aromatherapy and massage

London-based charity – KIDS, Hayward Adventure Playground
KIDS is a national charity working for disabled children and their families. They believe that disabled children should be given every opportunity to fulfil their potential, to play and learn alongside their peers and contribute as full members of their communities. Play is an important way that children learn and grow, and disabled children are often denied the chance to play with other children because there aren’t the local facilities suitable for their needs.
In Islington, London, the charity runs the Haywood Adventure Playground which provides a safe and challenging play space for disabled children and others from the local community. It’s the only playground of its kind in Islington and has climbing frames, gardens, swings and a paddling pool, as well as indoor facilities including an arts and crafts room and a sensory room. The age range is five to 15.
The facilities at Hayward include:
- Large outdoor play area
- Paddling pool
- Sand pit
- Ramped walkway
- Swings
- Giant see saw
- Bikes
- Play structures
